Kristin Paston, RN, BSN, MBA Candidate, President
In 2015, Mrs. Paston was elected President of the National Sedation Center by the NSC Board. Kristin was second author to Dr. Tamara Stoner- primary author, of the Foundational Knowledge: Adult Minimal Sedation program and has also been published in both the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN) and Nursing Economics. She has been nominated twice for the Nightingale Award and was a finalist in 2009.
Most recently, Ms. Paston held the Life Support Program Director position at the University of Colorado Hospital. With the mantra "Time is Tissue", both the inpatient and outpatient facilities produced high survival rates, cost effectiveness and patient satisfaction. Ms. Paston was honored with the "Magnet Nurse of the Year" award in 2012 at this prestigious hospital.
In 2001, Ms. Paston co-founded The Health Education Network (HEN), Inc, serving as President of the company since its inception. She is primarily responsible for the training operations of the company, mentoring instructors and providing oversight for the implementation of evidence based content. The bulk of the company’s business comes from teaching the American Heart Association’s courses designed for the advanced practitioner, including Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced life Support (PALS). The Health Education Network was formed as Health Paradigms, Inc., changing its name to The Health Education Network in 2010. The HEN also teaches Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum (TNCC) and Emergency Nurse Pediatric Curriculum (ENPC) courses offered by the Emergency Nurses Association. In addition, the company teaches courses offered by the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
From 1998 to 2000, she worked as a Staff and Relief Charge RN responsible for the care of high acuity post surgical patients, including organ transplants, open heart surgeries and thoracic and abdominal aneurysms at the University of Colorado Hospital.
From 1988 to 1998, Ms. Paston worked as a Staff and Charge Nurse in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit at Holy Cross Hospital in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl.
From 1985 to 1988, she worked at St Joseph’s Hospital in Ann Arbor Michigan as a Staff nurse and Charge Nurse on the medical surgery unit.
William Paston, B.A., Vice President and Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Paston graduated from Lake Forest College, Lake Forest, IL in 1977, majoring in Political Science.
Mr. Paston co-founded The Heath Education Network, Inc. in 2001 and continues to serve as Chief Executive Officer of the company. Mr. Paston is responsible for coordinating all of the firm’s daily operations and serving as the firm’s Chief Financial Officer.
Mr. Paston served as the investor relations manager and Vice President of Capital Markets for Multi-Link Communications from 1999 to 2001. Multi-Link was a publicly traded company until 2001 when it converted to back a privately held company. Multi-Link became Liberty Bell Telecommunications in 2008.
In 1985, Mr. Paston became a founding partner and President of ALPS Mutual Fund Services, Inc., based in Denver, Colorado. Mr. Paston served as the firm’s Securities Principal, holding Series 7 and 64 licenses with the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD). ALPS provides administrative and distribution services for proprietary mutual fund complexes. During Mr. Paston’s tenure at the firm, ALPS became the first company to organize and sponsor the conversion of bank commingled, long term trust funds into SEC registered mutual funds. Mr. Paston left the firm in 1999.
Mr. Paston was a financial consultant with Thomson McKinnon Securities from 1979 to 1983 and Paine Webber from 1983 to 1984. He served as the Tax Shelter Coordinator for Thomson McKinnon’s Denver office from 1982 to 1983. He was hired by the Trust Department of First National Bank of Denver in 1984 to sell the bank’s money market funds. Mr. Paston left the bank in 1985 when it was purchased by the First Interstate Bank system.
Mr. Paston has owned and operated a residential real estate brokerage business (RE Metro Denver, LLC) since June, 2008.
Pamela Ozaluk, R.N., B.S.N., M.N.A., CRNA
Pam Ozaluk is a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist who has an extensive background in critical care nursing prior to becoming an anesthesia provider.
Her career began in 1981 when she graduated with a Diploma in Nursing from the St. Louis Municipal School of Nursing. The first few years of her professional nursing career were spent working in Level I trauma center emergency departments. Thereafter, she expanded her practice into the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit setting where she recovered patients post cardiac bypass graft, heart transplantation, heart-lung transplantation, as well as those having had various vascular interventions to include carotid endarterectomy.
Looking to the future, she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of South Carolina in 2003. By 2004, she was accepted into the program to obtain her Masters in Nurse Anesthesia from the University Of South Carolina School Of Medicine.
She successfully completed her Masters in Nurse Anesthesia in 2006 and became certified by the National Board of Certification & Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists. She began working as staff and clinical faculty Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) at the Level I teaching hospital that was the primary clinical training site for her training program. Since then, she has been fortunate to provide anesthesia services in Florida and Colorado, with the Colorado Rockies being her home today. She is a practicing CRNA and part of an anesthesia group that provides services to a very active hiking, biking, and skiing community.
Believing in educating and mentoring to better serve our patient population, Pam is fortunate to collaborate with the National Sedation Center on sedation education as well as serves as an Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Basic Life Support instructor.
